KENT — The Zoning Board of Appeals reversed the Planning and Zoning Commission’s cease and desist order Tuesday against a property owner renting out his converted barn.
Guy Mauri, who owns a 4.3 acre property on Route 7, contested the order issued in August that prohibited him from renting out his converted barn as a commercial venture. ZBA decided that if he limited the number to six people sleeping overnight and applied for a permit to run a boarding house that it was permissible as a short-term rental. Mauri has been operating The Spirit Horse Farm as a rental property since July 2010.
Chairman Anthony F. DiPentima said the ZBA was going to serve like an appellate court to “determine whether Planning and Zoning accurately interpreted the regulations.”
